The Campbellsport Area Chamber of Commerce (CACC), in conjunction with the Campbellsport Volunteer Fire Department (CFD), is embarking on a project to build a playground and picnic area in Campbellsport that will be located at the CFD park area.  “No Name” playground has an anticipated opening of July 4th 2009.

The playground and picnic area will be added to the existing playground at the CFD park. The addition will encourage children of any age to play, explore, and imagine with their friends and families.

“The village of Campbellsport and the area surrounding Campbellsport could benefit greatly from a playground and picnic area.  It is a bit like landscaping your home.  Does it add value to your home?  Hopefully.  Does it add enjoyment to your life?  Almost always the answer is yes.    No name playground will enhance the great facilities we already have,” says Chris Schanen, CACC president and owner of the Campbellsport True Value/Ben Franklin.  

The “No Name” Playground has already raised over $10,000 from the Co-ed dodgeball tournaments at the Campbellsport Picnic on July 4th.   However, more donations will be needed to make this a reality.  Labor Donations or monetary contributions are being accepted and will be requested to make this a reality.  Other donors have already come forward. Past VIP sponsors of the co-ed dodgeball tournament will be recognized on a permanent display at the park.  Interested donors may sponsor the actual cost of any bench, table, or playground equipment and receive permanent recognition on the item they sponsor.  To become a sponsor contact  Joel Fleischman at joel.fleischman@furnishanddesign.com or ask for Joel at Campbellsport Building Supply, 920-533-4412.  More information is available at www.gocampbellsport.com.

Many community activists have stepped up to donate their unique talents.  Dr. Dean Uelmen has offered to volunteer his time to write grant applications for this project.  Dan Stukenberg, of Dan’s Landscaping and Bill Grede of W.G. Builders have helped with the design at no charge.  The Fond du Lac Moraine Park carpenter apprentice program has also offered their assistance.  They will use the playground as a project to enhance their carpentry skills.  The park will not charge for their labor.  “The no name playground is bringing the community together even before the project has begun.  We can’t wait to see the finished project” says Mr. Gary Roehrig, teacher at Moraine Park. 

“No Name” playground will have a name.  Eventually.   To create more buzz and awareness, the promotion that will allow you to name the park is being kept confidential.  Watch your local media outlets in the next few months on how your name or business name could own the naming rights for the playground.
